Plantation Polo Professional picked to play for England in Tri-Nations Polo Championship in India

20 February 2007 - 5 March 2007 - International Polo player John Fisher who is currently working as a fulltime professional for Plantation Polo & Equestrian Club in Dubai has been called up to represent an England Select Team in a Tri-Nations tournament between England, India, and Spain in Delhi.

The tournament is the first of its kind between these three nations and provides the England Polo team with a chance to shake off some of the winter cobwebs before launching into full pre-season training for the long summer season of Polo in the UK.

John Fisher commented before he left for India “We are into the full swing of the season here at Plantation, and are fortunate to have a regular game of 12 goals and above so I have been able to keep my game going through the winter. A typical week for me will involve competition chukkas at least three times a week, so hopefully I will be able to support the rest of the team who will may be a little rusty from a few months off”.

John Fisher will be joined in India by fellow internationals, Roddy Williams and Oliver Hipwood (Captain) who are experienced players on the International circuit. Their experience will be tested particularly as England will be fielding the youthful Nick Pepper, who is making his England debut and hopes to make a real impact.

John Horswell, England Polo coach who is unfortunately not traveling with the squad owing to a number of other commitments namely coaching the Plantation Polo team at the Snow Polo World Cup in Cortina from 20th February to 4th of March 2007 commented that “this is an experimental England side, but the boys are determined to go down to India, do a job and impress enough to cement their place in the England team for future tournaments”
